Headphone or Speaker Monitors?
I currently have a (very humble) home studio with a few synths, and i was thinking the next addition i should make.. Monitors seem to be one of the top things i want.. I would prefer headphone monitors only because i would be able to do more production at times when people don't want to be disturbed. This isn't a huge preference though, only little (hehe)..

Can a PC record 16 simultaneous tracks
I have an Intel based 1.8 Gig, 256 RAM PC. I was wondering how many audio tracks can possibly be recorded with it. I have yet to buy a sound card, so i desperately want to know this before I buy one.
One more: Is it possible to record as many as 24 simultaneous audio tracks with a PC? Please suggest me a solution for this also.

MIDI fundamentals
So I'm eyeing my 01V over in the corner knowing that I can configure its MIDI protocol so that it can function as a control surface for my digi001. Only I'm relatively inexperienced when it comes to MIDI, and such a task would be a significant undertaking for me.

Why the hell are they signed and I'm not?
Let's face it, all of us at one time or another have heard a new artist on the radio or a video and wondered "Why the hell are they signed and I'm not? They suck!"
What's your take on this controversial and subjective subject?

Silent But Deadly
OK. This cockamamy idea will probably get me branded as a physics phool and an airflow airhead. OR -- I'm giving away a money-making idea for free.

8 channel ADAT io card
Does anyone know of a simple 24 bit 8 channel ADAT i/o PCI card for PC (Win98se)? I'm after something around the two to three hundred Australian dollar mark.
Basically, I have a Mac G4 running Pro Tools / Digi 001 and a PC running Reason 2. The ADAT card will be used to connect 8 channels of Reason from my PC into the 001 on my Mac.

DVD Burners and 5.1
OK...now that Duxmer has opened the can of worms that is a DVD burner...I guess I would like to take it one step further...
Has anyone actually mixed to 5.1 (surround sound) or something equivalent (I know Nuendo does several different formats, but I have Cubase SX)? What is involved as far as burning to a DVD? I understand that the burning software is very, *very* expensive.

KRK 6000 Monitors
I may be able to get a pair of KRK 6000 (passive) monitors for around $315 with shipping, is this a good deal? It was on ebay but the reserve was never met and the guy emailed me back after the auction was over so I think he may let me have them for the reserve price.

DVD backup?
ok. am i crazy? why can't we use a DVD burner to backup our projects. isn't it a way better alternative to stock piling removable hard drives. you can buy a burner for about $250. you can buy dvd-rs for a buck a piece. you can fit roughly a half an hour's worth of 16-track, 24bit, 48kHz audio on a 4.7 gig dvd. so what gives?
