I have just recently arrived here. I can see that there are quite a few experienced people here representing a wide range of equipment usage - especially in the DAW world.
Please offer me you knowledge concerning host base verses non host systems.
I also ask that you would comment on the Scope Fusion Plateform and SAWstudio.

OK guys and gals...what is the standard "newbie question" that we have all seen posted about 3 million times on every forum from here to Timbuktu?

"I am getting pops and crackles in my song...waaaaaa!"

There are tons of reasons for this...buffer values...defragging the HD...CPU usage overload (too many channels and/or plugs), etc...

Well, here it is...soon to be 64bit processors from AMD...soon to be new processors(still 32bit from Intel)...

I am about to embark into my journey into the music business. (Local for now.) I have been fortunate to have been in another profession for 25 years and am very comfortable financially so I really do not need this work to make a living.

So I need a little support/advice from the community here. I'm an audio engineer working in and A/V production facility that is well established, but isn't always too forward looking in gear upgrades/updates. However, we have one of the highest hourly rates in our market, higher even than some fully equipped music tracking/mixing studios.

My P4B266 is currently on BIOS Revision 1003. I noticed on the ASUS site that there is 1005, 1007, 1008 and 1009. Are any of your ANUS's using one of these versions? Is there any justification for upgrading to any of these versions? if so which do you recommend?

Just curious about the current studio climate vis. new hires, particularly for those with monumental amounts of pro-tools experience.
I am considering moving back to Oz from the US. Am I insane?

Any help/advice on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

I am considering my first computer based DAW.

so I'm controlling NI pro 52, b4, absynth, FM7, etc...
sure, i can play all the keys fine and i even got the pitch wheel to work in absynth...
what i wanna know is, how the hell do i get to control all the knobs from my keyboard. ive never been big on midi before but this stuff is really interesting to me now.
any help?
