Pan question on Cello and piano recording
Recording cello and piano, I am going with XY stereo far and above, and spot mics for both instruments (two for piano amd one for cello).
I pan only the spots, and not the XY stereo track, right?
Thanks in advance...

Do I need a preamp?
I have an old Yamaha 3210 monitor mixer. It has low z 1/4" inputs, and hi z XLR.
From a post here, asking about the mixer, I learned the mixer can handle low/high z input, has preamps, and was built to deal with the different signals.

Samplitude Pro X5 new feature : Comparisonic vs. wave colors
In this video I compare Comparisonic colors from Samplitude Pro X4 and the Wavecolor option from Samplitude Pro X5 This may seem like a futil tool but once you get used to it it's very usefull.. Specially if you record a song with a customer and don't know right away where choruses and verses are located.. often the change of pitch is shown in the colors.. Leave comments if you will ! ;)

Those home recorded choirs, bands and orchestras
In this lockdown there's loads of material on YouTube with brass bands, choirs, orchestra etc all singing at home and then it sounds and looks so simple.
I got asked - as a freebie of course, to do one for an amateur choir - you know the thing, really nice people but the prospect of using technology at home on their own daunting.
