Anyone of you guys working a home a lot and what gear do you use?

I've been reading some info on mastering using the sum and difference of your final stereo mix. I was wondering if this is possible to set up using Cubase 5 and the Wavesgold plugins?

Okay, so we know about the Electro-Voice PL series being rebadged versions of Electro-Voice mics for sale through instrument dealers, and it's not hidden knowledge that most of the budget large diaphragm condensers are made in two Chinese factories. I have a U47 now that is suffering from a bit of very low freq hiss. Also, I find it has a relatively low output. (At least compared to a C12 that we`re using on the same project. I can't compare it to another 47.)

I'm here to get advices, as usual ;-)
I'm shopping for A/D converters for teh studio MAC/MOTU rig.
I got a 2408mkII with a G4/400, and we run DP 3.0.
So far the sound I got out of this setup doesn't please me so much.
The more the tracks, the worst the sound.

I guess I'll address this to the computing guru's - If you know the most fail-safe way to back-up a Mac system; I wish to back-up my 2 gigs of system folder, documents, internet, etc. from my startup drive.
FYI - I am running Mac OS 9.0.4 on a 9600/350, 4 ext SCSI drives ( one 4.3 gig 5400 could be dedicated for this?) no DVD RAM, but a CD-R.
