Mac Peer To Peer Networking

I've recently linked my Mac to an HDR 24/96. I use an ethernet hub, to which I also have PC's connected. They all communicate through a DSL Router. You need to set up TCP/IP on your Mac, specifying the required IP address, subnet mask, and gate. If you are using a router, the gate address is that of the router. Do the same on the HDR. Everything should then link.

Which multi chanel Pre under $750

New to recording. I am recording a 4 piece Beatleish group and an Alternative group. For mikes I Have a C1, 2-c1000s', and several 57's. Also an Alesis 24 board, Blue Max, etc. Preamps I am considering are the PreSonus MP20, Joemeek twin Qcs, Joemeek Vc3Q, HHB10 Tube Mic Pre and a few others. Does anyone have opinions on these or other preamps which will make for good recordings?

More detailed and open- Langevin Dual mono or Sytek?

If anyone has hands on with both, which is more detailed? Which would you choose if you could only have one? (not counting the fact that the Sytek is 4 channel). Does the Langevin have a good "iron" sound to it, or is it more transparent?
Also, is the new Great River mp2nv as detailed as the original, or is it way different? Which do you prefer?

Boost eq with Neve API Helios? Cut eq with Focusrite?

Just been using a Neve 1073 pair recently, I find, like on my Helios eq that boost seems to be the thing I go for instictivly..

I have heard that the same goes for the API range, twist in a boost and BAFF! Cool kick, snare & gtr sounds

Using a Foucusrite 215 however, leads me to cut frequencies.. (vocal 'honk' kick 'crok')

Why is this?

Two compressors, under God, indivisible...

Mick Jagger would like each of you to mix his album. But as he get's older, like all of us, he gets a little more eccentric (which would explain his stipualtions). He will only allow you to mix his album (and you'll get paid $7000 a mix, for 12 mixes, so don't say you won't do it) under the condition that you use only 2 compressors or limiters of your choice.
