Alright, now we have our submissions. Now it's time for us to pick a song for Mixerman's MixFest 2001.

It appears that Sony and Phillips are at it again, with the new DSD format. Can anyone tell me what the implications are here? Are we all going to have to re-tool our studios to keep up with this technology? It seems to be rolling right over all the PCM technology advances that have been made.

I bought a Pro Tools system after working 15 years with a board and tape machine. As mixerman has said, Pro Tools proved to be a sonic compromise for me, so I have partnered up with a fellow and now we got the rig hooked to a Neotek Elite and some good outboard with Apogee D/A.

I do a lot of tinkering with midi files.I want to make some good pad sounds that blend together in a smooth type of effect Im mainly trying to get horns and violins to work together.Anyone have any tips on using Pro Tools free to help me get better pad sounds.Also Im not to familiar with the many plugins in Pro Tools...compressors,eq,etc.Im a novice so please keep it simple I would deeply app

What are the downsides to buying, say, a PT Mix system from a "non-authorized" Digi dealer?

For instance, I see them a lot on ebay and they claI'm the box is unopened and unregistered (blank registration card).

Why is it?
That when I first start the recording process, in Acid. . I get this 6db "noise"? It happens everytime.

I found a "workaround" by copying the name of the track. Starting the recording. . Canceling it and then restarting it, under the same name. Fixes it every time. :)
And, actually, this isn't much of a problem.

Didn't want to post anything to throw that thread out of whack, but I'll say this for it. At the VERY least, it shows where people's heads are. Interesting indeed.

I take it, Mix, that this is what you intended on doing? I mean, the answer isn't important as what the answer shows about the person answering, right?

I've just finished my CD. It sounds good and local radio stations are playing my music. What do I do next? I would like to send my music out to labels, do I need representation - hire an entertainment lawyer?

Any suggestions are most welcome.
