Hi, I'm ready to recable my studio now and have some money saved up for it. I'm looking to buy preterminated cable in standard (non-custom) lengths.

I'd like something good that I won't outgrow; cable that's top quality which won't be the weak point in the path.

I don't knwo about you, but I hate touching the mouse while tracking. I have been able to setup hotkeys for almost all functions except record enabling tracks. Is there any way to set hotkeys to record enable individual tracks? I'd like to set keys 1 thru 0 to record anble tracks 1 thru 10.

1. What's the best mike for.. (just kidding). New to the board. You guys are great. Learned so much the first stop-by in this rarified air. Love the "reasoned" approach, and the punishing disdain for those who won't exercise the right.

I have been working on a Pro Tools / Mac workstation for the past 9mos. Instrument tracking is complete. I have been trying to accomplish Final MIX's in Pro Tools w/Sub-Professional results (consistently)! The bands and I am VERY DISAPPOINTED thus far. What can I do to get the Pro-edge that I thought I was buying into? (Duy pluginsalready being used!)

I have noticed that side-chain inputs are not common on the more traditional compressor designs. I understand why they would not exist on an exacting "reissue" model, like the "new" UA LA-2A & 1176 models - if the original model didn't have the feature, the reissue won't have it either.

I didn't think to ask here about an old jazz drummer friend I'm trying to track down. He wasn't too well known, except by other drummers in the 50s and 60s. His name is Freddie Gruber, but he might be calling himself Freddy Gruber these days. Great drummer, but we lost track of each other years ago. Anybody heard of him or know how to contact him? Thanks for any help.

I usually do a lot of rock and electric based music. Right now I'm working with an acoustic group though. We have mic'ed all the guitars and also taken a D.I. from their on board piezo pickups. I have never been happy with the sounds I've gotten with the piezo tracks. The artist would like to blend the piezo and mic'ed guitar sounds. I'm not happy with the way this sounds.

I have been sent a track in from Europe to mix this weekend and am having real trouble with the bass. I didn't track the band but apparently the guy was using a Trace bass ( I think made by Trace Elliot) and a Trace amp and cab. When I put the sound up it was flat as f***k and had no bottom end in it at all.
