I've been going to the mattresses for the last couple of weeks with my PIII600 computer, Win 98se & 2408mkII. There had been a constantly recurring error message in Sonar referring to Tdif Outputs 1 and 2 being unavailable due to being in use by another application.

lets say i have a 10 song project i am mixing in Pro Tools, and i want the same plugins,aux routing, and inserts for each song. each song is its own session. how do i make a template of my first session so all i have to do is open the template and import the right audio files ?

I was wondering when people who use mix compression patch it in. I've tried early and later, but haven't determined a method. I don't often use mix compression; I had some bad experiences, with cheap gear, and tended to leave it for mastering. Now that I have nicer units available, I'm going to try again.

I'm a small studio guy who is looking to buy a good "house" set for using on rock and/or roll sessions. I know about the LP/ Remo stuff/options and might very well go that route, I'm just wondering if there are other small makers out there that are recommended by anyone? (Price around 400 per but would be willing to pay less.)

The first time I heard those pops and weird bad quality automated panning I thought it was because I was also automating volume as well as applying three insert effects: two VST and one DX to a 96KHz 24 bit audio file... "Too much for my PC", said I. But as I opened the VST performance window it showed a reasonable headroom, not even reaching the half of it (CPU and DISK).

I just joined this site a few minutes ago and can see it was a wise move.
I have a Q; about the XP-30 synth.
I now own a Kurzweil k2000 which I plan on selling in order to buy an XP-30.

I am considering moving from 2" to one of the new hard disk 24-track recording systems and am asking for anyone's opinions of the relative merits of the units mentioned above. I don't really understand the operational differences between the two, and am of course interested in sound quality, particularly as I will be using the unit's A/D/A converters a substantial amount.
