I would like some tips for recording my acoustic. Here is one of my latest recordings and I would like to know where I can improve. I recorded using an AT2020 microphone and Pro Tools.

What's the difference between exporting a project as WAV and exporting as Broadcast WAV? Is some extra data added to the file?

Is there an advantage in using a FW 800 PCI-E card over a FW PCI card ?
Also I have read about 32 bit / 64 bit cards and buses.
Does this relate with the DAW software being 64 bit ? Or is it just the compatibility with the operating system ?
therefore having no affect on audio software operation ?

I was thinking of having my home studio in a basement, who here has done same thing and how much noise gets out? I just don't wanna record and have police called on me.

My current situation is that I have a combined mix/tracking room in my basement. I've put in a lot of bass traps and diffusion (mostly under the guidance of people on this forum) and the result is a fairly neutral sounding (as opposed to "good sounding") tracking room. I get good vocals and acoustic instruments. Drums are ... not terrible.

Ok so here is what's up. I am finishing up a client recording project right now, and in January I will get my final paycheque for the project plus tax returns later on. So I will have about $1500 to spend on recording stuff (as long as everything goes as planned :P ). My two options:
