Hello all. I'm moving soon to a new apartment and I plan on setting up my first real "studio". I don't have any extra rooms so It will share my bedroom. Luckily my bedroom is pretty decent size so I think it will work well. I do however have a couple questions.

This is a rough mix, and right now I am working on the guitar sound as well as just writing music. I previously recorded about five songs just using a direct method, and that sounded pretty good except I had to do A LOT of EQ work on the back end.

I currently have a mac G5 with two video screens connected, running Logic Pro. Of course there is never enough screen space and I would like to add a third monitor. The two I have are connected to a video card with two identical connectors on the back, no problem there. To add a third monitor, I am assuming I need another video card.

I am about to buy the following gear, in order to have a great sounding, versatile and portable live keyboard rig (occasional recording):

MacBook Pro 13" 16GRAM, 128G SSD + 750G HD (in the optical drive slot)

So, a friend of mine says that he has a dbx graphic EQ that he's going to give me. I didn't get the model from him, but I'm not one to really turn down gear...especially free gear. However, I'm not really sure how/where to utilize it once I get it.

Anyone have any recommendations for using graphic EQs in a mix scenario?

What sort of AI technology exists that might help to isolate instruments on a track? For example does any software exist that could find the audio signature of a snare drum and delete everything that's not a snare drum? :cool:

I am trying to install the latest driver pack that Tascam has for the US-1641 on a 64-bit windows 7 OS, but every time I try to install it the computer restarts in the middle of the process. It then boots up and asks if I want to boot in safe mode, so I have a feeling it is something in the system. I have checked for updates to the OS, but it keeps saying it is up to date.

Absolutely superior results printing your mix rather than exporting/ bouncing. Thanks to Boswell. NO SRC ( sample rate conversion) happening here anymore.
