I'm looking for software or plugin that will seek wave patterns. for example if I select a portion of a wave it will seek similar instances of the selected pattern? I could swear I did this in Reaper once but damned if I can remember how.

Some very good friends of mine would like to make some high quality vocal recordings. The problem is that they belong to an older generation and have no experience with computers and very limited experience with recording - think microphone and audio cassettes.

Whats the best monitor to get for mixing and mastering under 100$? Is the quality going to be so bad that it will affect the mixing so much so that it will sound bad, if I try to buy monitors under 100$? Could i get better reference headphones for 100$ or should I take a sh*tty monitor over a good reference headphone?

Anyone use the A-Designs Audio EM-PEQ? I'm looking to add a Pultec style to my hybrid chain. How quiet is this and what's your opinion?

i just bought a BLA PM8 to use with my 4 in / out lynx card and have a few questions in regards to how I set it up. Given that I have always worked inside the box I never had any experience with consoles.

Would I connect the BLA PM8 only when I am exporting my mix? Would I benefit at all from monitoring from it?

i'm in the market for a new acoustic. i want something that sounds nice on a recording as well as plays well live. anyone have experience recording different acoustics? which did you like best to mix and which did you like the sound of best? my price range ultimately is around 5-600$

I'm about to buy a Sony PCM-D50 as this seems to be about the best quality-wise in my current price range, and I'll be recording at 24 bit 96kHz (and playing them back on my high-endaudiophile hifi).
