Smoke from guitar amp during recording
Hello,
my band and I have decided that we're going to record a few of our own songs to have something to put up on youtube, myspace etc. Since we don't have the hardware or cash for a proper studio, we decided to create a poor-mans studio using my digital bass-pedal (which acts as a soundcard when connected to a computer). The idea was to hook it up like this:

re-amping with Focusrite Saphire 56
Hi, I'm new here, though not new to recording, but I have run into a problem that I can't seem to find anyone who knows what I am talking about. I want to re-amp a bass guitar. I am using a DOD active DI to split the signal and capture both the mic'd sound and the DI signal into my new (part of the issue) Focusrite Saphire 56.

Recording levels
I record live orchestral concerts using a Tascam DR-100 and Tandy/Realistic PZMs. I have to use these mics for various reasons including the layout of the venue and the need to carry both musical instrument and recording gear. Mics have 1/4 inch jacks and are connected to the DR-100 using XLR adapters. Recording settings WAV, 16 bit, 44.1 sampling frequency.

Going Surround!
K, so I am in my final semester for an Audio Post-Production program in college and have been looking at certain things for my personal rig that I can use if I were to do some freelance while looking for an actual job in the field. Certain features in pro tools 10HD that are also available in the complete production toolkit, are things I actually may miss in the future.
