Mainly looking for tips/suggestion on mic placement, I'll be using 2 or 3 sm57's, a ksm 27, possibly some other mics...not exactly positive atm. The goal for the outcome is along the lines of For Today, I Declare War, Elysia, In The Midst Of Lions, etc..Anyone care to share their experience?

Is there a good headset for both gaming and studio? I think this one is good for gaming, but is it good for studiowork?

I have a guitar amplifier which I do not use, and I want to convert it into a bass combo amplifier. What if I want to switch out the guitar speaker with a bass speaker? Where would I buy one? Are there any considerations for this type of speaker transfer? If so, where can I purchase a 12 inch bass speaker? Are there any speakers which are better than others?

So i have been reading and i have seen people say to just save up and get a nice pair of monitors that you can use for several years down the road. What is the prince range that will get me those "monitors" they are talking about?

I just get my ADK computer in, and it seemed to be working ok, but when I began recording my projects, every time I save, Sonar stops responding and it kicks me out even when only running a few plugins and nothing else.

My orchestra performed yesterday and I was the recording engineer (along with performer). Please give a listen to my recording and provide feedback - how can I improve this? Note, there was no EQ nor reverb added, this is straight from the pre-amp. To me, it doesn't really need any further EQ or verb (the room was very wet already) but if you disagree, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Hey, guys. I'm looking to delve into music theory and composition/arrangement this summer. I was wondering if there exist any books geared towards composing/arranging for a small instrumental ensemble (small orchestra?). The only book I could find with similar content dealt with arranging for small to medium jazz ensembles. Are there any books you all would recommend on either subject?

So my problem is that I what to buy monitors to produce mix and master, and I'm able to spend around, 900$, but I don't know if I should buy a pair for producing and another to mix, a pair that allow to do the 2 things(what a think it's a bit difficult because I want to work with some bass and that may get in the way when I'm mixing) or buy a pair with a sub.
