I've been searching for the standard, as I've been told there is such, but can't seem to find anything.

What I mean is how to label the tracks. I remember hi hats were HH, top snare was something like Top Sn., etc. I've been told there's a standard so when giving sessions to other engineers it makes their lives easier.

Hello, I'm new to this forum, and fairly new at recording. I am working on a didgeridoo solo CD and would like to be able to have an automatic way to pan certain of the didgeridoo's sounds left and right. The style that I play is kind of like beat-boxing, and the didgeridoo comes out sounding similar to a five piece drum-kit.

I'm assembling a list of 1x12 cabs. Particularly for heavier metal sounds. Needs to sound tight and dynamic but not 'hyped' like 80's metal. I'm at a loss when browsing for this stuff. None of the brands are brands I know and I'm not sure how they sound either way, so I need somebody to point me in the right direction.

I'm looking to get back into recording my own stuff again and was wondering if anyone had any advice on which home recording studio to get. I started off years ago with fostex 4 channel tape studios and my last one was a 4 channel MD recording studio however I have certain requirements now that Id like to meet and was looking for some guidance or advice.

how much of a difference can a mic preamp-am make? and what mic preamp-amp is suggested?

Can someone tell me what the difference between the current c 414's are. There are the B-xl II, B-XLS. Is one better than another? I was interested in buying a pair but not sure which one to go with?

Right now I'm running an sm57 through a PreSonus Firestudio project into Cakewalk sonar, to record guitar. My question is..would a preamp such as an Avalon make a huge difference? someone told me it wouldnt make any difference at all unless i buy a high-enda/d converter..is this true?

and one more question. How do studios seem to get their stereo spectrum so much wider then mine?
