Outdoor recording fun. .not!
Forums
Last night we did our annual recording of the Commencement Band on the college's band stand for the local college. Since we have done this for many years we have it down to a basic setup which has worked well in the past.
This year they threw us a couple of curves.

Tour agreements/contracts IMPORTANT!=)
Forums
So my band has been offered to jump on tour with another band. Our manager isn't very business smart (which doesn't give me a lot of faith in him) and wanted to just jump on the tour and make verble agreements with venues about being paid.
Well that was just silly!

Reverb on Kick Drum?
Forums
Yes or no?
I'm getting a good solid, punchy-with-click kick drum sound, but what I'm really after is that pillowy sound that's currently popular. It almost seems i'm hearing a trace of the reverb tail prior to the click. Is this a dedicated reverb setting on the bass drum channel, or some kind of reverse gating?

profire 2626 or 003R
Forums
I had originally thought of buying a 003R and getting some extra preamps for it, such as a digimax fs or fmr rnp. iv been wanting to get back into pro tools but that way is kinda expensive. so i was thinking of a profire from m-audio. i noticed m-powered is pretty much the same as le, just with out the music production tool kit.

Recording classical choir..
Forums
I am going to record a classical choir and I need some advise
The location is a medium sized (old) church. Carpet on the floors and walls of wood. The ceiling high is aprox 10-12 meters. The natural reverberation of the church is pretty good. (Not the 5 second reverbs u get in big stonechurches but not completely dead either, something in between)

Resurrecting a Former Interface as Standalone Preamps
Forums
My new interface is on the way. Now I'm deciding whether it's worth the $30 in shipping to get my Alesis paperweight back.
My question has to do with whether gutting the i/o26 and using its preamps as standalone hardware is a.) possible / b.) practical.

Anyone use one of these for anything other than it's intended purpose? I know they are generally a broadcast type omni but just thought I'd ask. Saw one in a pawn shop for $60 bucks. Thought that was a pretty good deal for this mic but I don't really have a use for it. or do I?
