So after our discussion of recording marimba and a few other financial events in my life I decided to purchase a pair of Cascade Fat Head Ribbon mics. It turned out that they were out of the original Fat Heads in gold so they offered me a deal on the Fat Head IIs. They came late Wednesday, and I got around to trying them today.

Ok. here is the deal. I have been doing live sound for several years but I want to branch out and start doing recordings on my computer, this means that I need to get an audio interface for my Macbook.

Just curious. I was thinking that it might be nice to add to my GR preamp. I'd like to hear any feedback if possible.

I think I have what might be some sort of interference problem that has been driving me crazy. It has actually been a problem for quite some time, but only recently since troubleshooting the issue has the problem become severe enough to merit putting everything on hold until the issue is figured out.

I'm curious about a few records whose production I both adore and admire, and since I'm kind of a n00b to this whole thing, I was hoping you all could shed some light on exactly what was done and used to make these records sound so spectacular. I'm talking equipment, compression, eq, verb, anything. I don't know how readily available this information is, so anything would be appreciated.

I'm trying to do a live off the floor recording by taking the Record Tape Out on a powered mixer and plugging the 2 stereo ouputs (a Y cable) into the Line-in jack on a USB line/mic device (basically an external sound 16bit/44Khz card). The PC is a fast WinXP box with 1Gb of Ram using Audacity or Soundforge.

Does anyone know of a pill that helps loosen up the muscles a little bit? I've been thinking this might help to warm up the vocal cords. Just a thought.

Alright, I'm recording a song right now that features really prevalent floor tom, and try as I might, I cannot get it sounding the way I want going in. I'm fairly inexperienced, so I don't know exactly what the problem is, but I know that the sound's bad going in, so it's probably the microphone or the placement.

I have an audio file (a lecture) that needs to be edited and filtered for noise distortions. It was recorded with a clip-on mic and an Olympus digital voice recorder.
