Hi guys, I'm doing a project at college for my sound reinforcement systems class.

I'm writing out the procedures involved for powering up the system, checking it, then powering down the system.

Here is what i've come up with:

System power up

Right now I have an EMX860st and 2 non-powered Yamaha speakers. I just bought a passive monitor yesterday and realized how much better it sounds. Now on the back of the soundboard there is ports for monitor and speakers. I guess what I am wondering is how to setup a proper sound system. The room is about 50 ft by 50 ft. There are microphones and instruments.

Here is my challenge: A friend wants me to record her barbershop group so they can do remote practicing.

She wants to record the four singers simultaneously, then burn 4 CDs with a different singer eliminated on each. In other words, [singer A] would receive the CD with [singers B, C, & D] singing the song -- then [singer A] could sing to the CD, filling in her own part.

With all the tracks recorded for my band's first demo, six on Garageband, three on Cubase (unfortunatley we found about Cubase later), we are now ready to mix.

Just curious from all the guys and gals out in Acoustic Music world -

How often, when setting up your main mast - regardless of stereo pattern - do you place the mics at the exact right height and distance just by eyeballing it or brief measurements?

When you don't nail it right off, how much do you find yourself tweaking?

Hello everyone. I have a computer recording setup with Nuendo and a Firepod. Also have a DM5 that I've been using with acoustic triggers. Up until now I've been recording from the audio outputs of the DM5 from my triggered 2 bass drums and snare.

Man, I've been fighting a lot of gremlins in my studio since I stepped it up a notch but today I was actually able to open a Cubase project and start making things work. I finally got a chance to plugin the LA-610 that has been sitting there for a couple of months with little attention. I plugged my $300 Peavey bass into it and started messing with the eq and the compressor.

ever have one of those nights where everything sounds great no matter what? when all you have to do is turn up everything. barely need to touch the eq, the delay already sounds money, and the reverb isn't too high-endy?

i'm riding high on one of those from last night..

I am trying to decide on a harddrive arrangement for my new DAW setup.

I originally thought about this:

1x WD 250GB for applications/installations/OS
2x WD 250GB for Samples/Library running in a RAID 1?
2x WD 750GB for Session/Project files running in a RAID 1?
