Time to upgrade my home studio (step 1: audio interface)

Hey all,

I’m looking to finally upgrade some of my home recording equipment and I’d love some advice on the direction to go.

I’d like to be able to record 6+ tracks simultaneously to logic or live (2 vocals, 2-3 miCD amp, drum mics, midi instruments) on my macbook pro (2.4gHz/OS10.5)

Problems With Recording Midi From My Drum Module!

I dont know what to do?
When i'm recording my drums,i record also the midi, and i have a problem with latency!
I have my Ddrum 4 hoocket up with my EMU card through midi in and the latency is set to minimum 2ms and when i list it on the monitors there is no latency, but when i record the signal it records almost with a whole second of latency or something like that:0

Need Your Help. High-mid pitched buzz, suspect: laptop PSU?

Hi, I seek your help/advise as I am stuck in a classical situation. "It worked fine so far but today when I need it ..."

My setup. :

Recording path: Mics >> Mackie 1640 >> Firewire >> HP NX 7400 Laptop
Monitoring path: Mics >> Mackie 1640 >> Aux 1, 2, 3, 4 >> 4 channel headphone amp.

What happens:

have you guys ever tried this?

So this was something I heard from a friend of a friend type thing. Anyways this guy was engineering for Ryan Adams a few years ago and Ryan told him to put a really small delay on his vocals - so small that you can't exactly hear it delay. But apparently Adams has been using this for years to get his vocals to sound really wide and full.
