Starting a studio for audio/video engineering; Beginner

Hey guys. I am new to the forum here, so I hope I am posting this in the right place.

I am currently working on building a small studio for both audio and video productions. I started off with tinker toy type programs on my PC like Pinnacle, and have made my way up. I have no pro training, just what I have been asking on forums and reading in books.

Tascam Us-1641 USB 2.0 any good?

Im looking to buy a new interface, move up from the stereo one i have now, Any comments about the performence of the unit, or suggestions of other units i should get

I dont Run any other USB devices on my laptop and i only have a 4 pin firewire port, but i can get a PCMCIA card for 6 pin if anyone has a firewire interface in mind that blows this one away

Thanks everyone.

Audio interface for an iMAC

Hello all,

I am looking for a simple solution to record acoustic guitar (perhaps a bit of electric too) though an iMAC (2.0 GHz processor with 1GB memory) using GarageBand. I’ve been playing for quite some time and just want a simple/inexpensive solution to capture my practice sessions.

I’d like to be able identify an audio interface to support the following:

otari concept one board -any pointers?

Hello all

I am set to begin a project this week end on an Otari Concept One 64 ch. Having never used one before I was wondering if there is anything I should be aware of -quirks particulalr to this specific board. The owner of the studio is cranky and I dont want any unneeded flak.

Thanks to all

Question on headphones

I have to use headphones for basic recordings of guitar, vocal..ETC:
I can only use monitors at certain times due to were I'm living at the moment.
I have to due a basic eq of the guitar, vocal, etc. thru the cans...then due a total eq and mix thru the monitors when I can.
What I don't want, is an eq thats really..OFF. due to doing it thru the cans.
