Multiple Vocals
I would like to know, how many times vocals should be duped for a chorus or a verse. In commercial music I hear powerful vocals in the chorusus, and I wonder how many times the vocals were duped to make it sound that way. I ususally do my vocals in a chorus about nine times, don't know it that's too much, or not enough, or just have to listen.

Sm57 for vocals?
Hello, I have a cheap mic and what to get something to record vocals, drums, and maybe acoustic guitar. Would an sm57 do the job if I position it right and everything, or does anyone have other suggestions. Also the MXL 990 condenser seems good ( I do have phantom power) THanks

Noise on vocal tracks
I'm recording some podcasts using Boehringer C1 mic and UB802 mixer with Audacity software.
I'm getting a very quiet vocal sound even with gain up and a lot of noise. Noise reduction gives me a very tinny effect almost immediately.
What can I do to either suppress the noise, or get more vocal sound?

problem recording vocals with Tascam us122
i recently purchased a Tascam us122 to record guitar and vocals onto my computer. my problem is that when i plug my microphone (an Audio-Technica ATM63HE) into the XLR port the vocals arent recorded in stereo but only on one side (channel?). this happens when i plug it into both the right and left side XLR ports.

Rounding the Edges : Vocals
For 2 part harmonies (6 tracks at once for fullness), I'm noticing that the edges (beginning and ends of phrases) are too harsh. IOW, they were tracked spot on. But, these edges really need to be softened a bit with some transition.
I tried a quick attack on the compression, but it only helped a little. Using a gate sounds too weird. Are there any other methods I can try?

Pro Tools 7.0 (eq setting for vocals and other instruments)
Hello, I have a couple questions about Pro Tools 7.0, I recently bought a new Mbox 2 and also purchased the ilok usb plugins. Im totally new with Pro Tools. Ive never really had any experience with eq plugins and dynamics. Im trying to get a really good clean tight sound on the vocals and a solid sound out of the instruments I'm recording.
