SM57 for vocals and other things?

Forums

Hey, i'm a guitarist as those who read my threads know and i use a Shure SM57. I'm looking at picking up another mic to place as a far away mic when i record my guitar parts.

As a result, i will more than likely be tracking vocals with an SM57 becuase i record vocals once in a blue moon as the majority of my work is instrumental.

vocal recording . needs quick help! please

Forums

Hi, i am recording a couple demos for my band and so far everything sounds great but when we started tracking some vocals it sounds like the vocals are completely isolated from the recording. it sounds like its a different song or is being sung from a different room.
i am using
and MXL 990 condenser mic through an MBOX2.

any quick advice to get a decent sound?

doubling vocals

Forums

Could someone give me some tips on doubling vocals for affect. I'm recording a male trio and normally in gospel music you would record each line three times: one main vocal and two "stacks". However, each line is not right on with the previous in time and/or pitch (I know a little off is good but this is really throwing the entire thing off).
