Vocals and Mixing
Hey Ro'ers, I have been producing hip hop music for the past year and I was wondering what is the best way to attempt to get the vocals to sit in the mix like a commercial Cd? I ask because I know that this is one of the most important parts of the mixing process.

Shure SM7 vs. . Shure SM-57/SM-58 for hip hop vocals
I was wondering how much of an upgrade the Shure SM7 is over the SM-57/SM58?
I'm also looking at the Electro-Voice RE-20 and the Sennheiser MD 421.
Any help would be appreciated. Right now I use a Audio-Technica AT-3035...which I like. However, I want a good dynamic so I have some variety.
Vocal Recording not Sitting well in mix?
Hello,
I have recently been recording some demos, and I am happy with my results thus far; however, my vocals don't seem as full as the other intstruments recorded. Now, most of the intruments (guitar, keys, bass, etc.) have been recorded using multiple mics and tracks. My questions are:

SM57 for vocals and other things?
Hey, i'm a guitarist as those who read my threads know and i use a Shure SM57. I'm looking at picking up another mic to place as a far away mic when i record my guitar parts.
As a result, i will more than likely be tracking vocals with an SM57 becuase i record vocals once in a blue moon as the majority of my work is instrumental.

vocal recording . needs quick help! please
Hi, i am recording a couple demos for my band and so far everything sounds great but when we started tracking some vocals it sounds like the vocals are completely isolated from the recording. it sounds like its a different song or is being sung from a different room.
i am using
and MXL 990 condenser mic through an MBOX2.
any quick advice to get a decent sound?

doubling vocals
Could someone give me some tips on doubling vocals for affect. I'm recording a male trio and normally in gospel music you would record each line three times: one main vocal and two "stacks". However, each line is not right on with the previous in time and/or pitch (I know a little off is good but this is really throwing the entire thing off).

Not recording, but... live wireless vocals.
I'm working on a show that goes up in three weeks. It's my second musical, though I've designed/run other shows at school, and I'm having difficulty mixing the wireless mic's well. It just sounds really hollow, and it's peaking very easily with the trim pretty far down and the fader at about half volume.
