Valley People 610 on vocals?
Hi I just recently aquired one of these 2 channel compressor/ expanders. And i was wondering if It could be used on professional vocals? If not what would this be good on? It will be paired with a ssl preamp and a new vocal mic soon ( any suggestions there?).. It is mainly for rock melodic male vocals thanks. :D

What's the best way to position a vocalist for tracking
What's the rule of thumb when it comes to recording vocals. Is there anything that's the standard? How many inches or feet for that matter does the mic need be set with it's pad activated or with the bass roll-off kicked in? I usually set my pop filter about 2 or 3 inches from the mic. Is this Ok? Then I'd have the vocalist stand about a foot from the filter. This has always been an issue.
Vocal Equipment for Live/Studio use. Need Suggestions!
I am a singer/producer/musician with A PT home studio. My band has almost finished an album and we are preparing to play it live. I am extremely uptight about vocal sound quality and I am looking for some suggestions for vocal equipment for live use. Of course, I will also use this equipment in the studio.
Nice Vocals
Hey all, I'm kinda a newby to the pc recording world so I have a few questions. First a little background. I'm recording only vocals on a RODE nt1000 and using an old Yamaha Dsp Factory. My vocals are going down well, but after processing w/ reverb, eq, etc, I'm losing that clean sound, on CD it sounds over processed.

Compression 101 (Bass DI, Vocals, Nady CL 5000)
I record without a board direcly into two Aardvark Q10's into Sonar 2.2 XL.
I have some nice compressors I can use later in mix down, but I just bought my first outboard compressor, a NADY CL-5000.
Would anyone be willing to share some pointers on how to get started using it for two applications:
1. Bass Guitar recorded DI
2. Vocals

Vocals: What compressor?
I produce R&B tracks for an independent label here in the UK - since I can remember there's been a lot of respect for the US vocal sound (and US production in general) - a lot has to do with the quality/character of the artist, but I believe the mice/compressor has a lot to do with it too. So what compressor?

Vocal Pitch
I'm in the market for a vocal processor for harmony work and vocal effects. I have my eye on the TC Helicon Voiceworks and the TC Helicon Quintet. Has anyone used these and which one is better? Also what is their down side if any?
What's this button do?

Plugins for Vocal Processing
Hi, I'm totally new to this game so please bear with me if I ask redundant questions. I've just started work on my first album (dance-techno) and have not been too satisfied with the quality of the vocal tracks.
