Micing an acoustic guitar

Micing acoustic guitar

I've been told that, with the mics I have (two knockoff Oktava MK012's), a good way to mic an acoustic guitar is to put one mic about 5 inches away perpendicular to the 12th fret and one about 5-6 inches away pointing just to the left of the hole. This sound effective? If not, any advice? And, if so, should the levels be as high as I can get them before they peak?

Purchasing the brick

OK i say this tongue and cheek...

but god dammit if I lay down the cash 2 BT Bricks and I dont hear an improvement or a nice added sonic taste over my onyx Mackie pres I'll be very disappointed in everyone who has spoken praise about this item and I will never forgive "you"!

And I am buying a pair of Kel HM-1s and the same goes for them too!

Best SDC pair for acoustic guitar under $750- 1K

I want to pick up a couple of small diaphram condensers for home tracking into a 002 rack with the stock preamps. Most of the tracks will have vocals x 2-3, bass, synth and percussion as well.
The acoustic style will be fingerstyle/ fingerpicking (bare finger-no nail) on some high end instruments.
Please give me some direction among the choices in this price range.
