success stories (or not) using AKG C414
Hi all, '
Motivating this "product" question is my new project, recording two Cellos.
At this time i am planning to use a pair of C 414s in X/Y configuration.
I will not be able to make any A/B comparisons, as i dont have a locker full of microphones ( sigh )

Recording with Macbook Pro, AKG C2000B, & MicPort Pro
First of all, will I be okay with this setup as far as the soundcard goes? The Centrance Micport Pro will be my USB interface, but I'm assuming the soundcard that comes standard on the 15" Macbook Pro is pretty decent?
Recording Vocals with AKG and Adobe Audition
I am using an AKG 400 series Vocal mic. I am also Using Adobe Audition as my recording software. I have the settings on my mic for a bass roll off (or a highpass filter which i think I should turn back on) and a -10db cut.

Chameleon Labs TS-1s or AKG 451s for OHs
I'm looking to spend about $900 on a pair of drum overheads. Anyone have any thoughts on either 451s or Chameleon Labs TS-1s? I've heard the later holds it's own against 451's.
Thanks

Which AKG 414 should I buy?
[Note, I also posted this on the ProAudio forum; if against the rules please delete this one.]
(Note: I'll only consider new mics.)
C 414B-XLS is flatter - which I want.
C 414B-SLII has a rise for vocals.
Either can be bought in a matched stereo pair.
I thought I had decided on the XLS matched pair, for $1,999 per four online sources.

Which AKG 414s should I buy?
(Note: I'll only consider new mics.)
I was planning on buying a matched pair of AKG C414 XLSs, which are flatter than the XLIIs.
I thought I had decided on them for $1,999.
The problem is I just stumbled across that new C414 LTD for a great price.

AKG Perception 200
Does anyone know if this has a gold diaphragm?
Also, to anyone who's used one, how are these?
Would be used mainly for female vocals and acoustic guitar.
Posting this on behalf of my friend who wants some more info on one but doesn't have an account here.
Cheers :D

Auratone equiv. > AKG LSM50 ...replacement drivers argh..
Hi all,
I've got an old AKG LSM50 (the one that was based on the even older "Auratone") speaker on my bench, requiring a replacement driver.
Unfortunately, like the original, it's now obsolete and Harman/AKG can't supply a new driver.
The driver is actually a Goodmans 0M029, but Goodmans Spares have no record on their systems of ever having made the driver.
AKG C451s?
Any opinions? I'm looking to use them as overheads and for acoustic guitar
thanks

AKG C426b Manual
I'm looking for the manual for an AKG 426B mic. Does anyone know where I can download one? I couldn't find one on the AKG website. (In fact, that site suffers from a dearth of information on this microphone.)
Thanks,
Grant
