Humming bass pickup
hello
i have a harley-benton hbb500tbk electric bass. it's a cheap one, but it's active and ok for me. the problem is that the one pickup makes a humming noise (like some ground problem), which makes it kinda unusable. i can use the other one, which doesn't make any noise (at least no unwanted) but i like the sound of the other one better (except for the humming of course).

Cops were called... because the bass was too loud
Sorry, I'm really new to these forums. This is my first post actually. I was referred here by TalkBass. So I have some questions about this room I have.
Snaredrum and bassdrum eq'ing
hello there
i have a problem with my drum mix. my snare drum sounds a bit thin. i tried to raise the bass on the eq, but still it wouldn't sound fatter. the other problem is, that when the snare and the bassdrum are played together the bassdrum disappears in the mix.

Recording Bass - Is a DI Box necessary?
ok,
I've been recording my own music for quite some time, but I never really mastered recording the Bass Guitar. I don't use an amp, but I don't use a DI Box. I plug it into a preamp, then to my soundcard. Is a DI Box necessary? If so how do I use it...Can I still use a preamp for tone?

Direct vrs. Mic'd bass tone
Ive gone back and forth between the two... I normally go with a bit of both... direct to get some of the highs and clicks, microphone to get some of the girth and low/mids.
however, i've reached a point where i'm not able to improve the tone of any bass i work with. and essentially rely on lots of EQ, compression and even pre-amp plugins.

Bass Exciters (Aphex, BBE, MaxxBass etc.) cool or crap?
Does anyone really use these bass exciters? Does anyone know any top selling albums using them on bass or kick drum? Across all genres, let us tell of our experiences.
Quantum Leap Hardcore Bass, questions.
Hey, i'm a heavy metal guitarist, songwriter etc that does mostly solo work (Being that i cannot find a single likeminded soul in scotland,).
I'm needing to lay some bass tracks but i don't have one and any bass i could potentially borrow is cheap rubbish.
I am looking at this library (Having already fallen in love with other EW products, DKFHS and Sym Orchestra Gold).

bass mix
hello guys!
I've got data for mixing from a band.
Some of The recording data is full of dirt. I already advice them to record again some of them. but they its just for demo, so they think it's not necessary. But, this is a big problem to me. Because its mean, Hard work over day and night before mix.
Some of them were vocal, kick, snare and bass!
