Hey guys, as you can see I'm new here and know absolutely nothing about recording. I play guitar and am starting a band sometime soon. I want a studio in my room so I can record ourselves and maybe help other bands record to earn a little money.

OK, I'm selling off a 40's vintage Gibson Lap Steel and matching amp to invest in some decent studio monitors. I'm figuring I'll have in the ball park of $800 - $1000 dollars to spend.

First post here, and I need some super-noob advice.

I work at a television production house. My boss just asked me to set up a fully functional audio recording studio. We've got a soundproof vocal booth and an adjacent room to put the workstation in.

to maximize quality in productions ranging from rap to country, with an emphasis on 'indie' rock music, where would you invest up to $25,000? keep in mind that purchases will be made on a line of credit, and expenses will have to be justified with increased rates, quality, etc.

i currently own:

I've just bought a pair of KRK RP8's. They're okay, but they seem to be less accurate than I would have hoped. Or, as someone put it, more difficult to learn and to get comfortable with than the other pair that I was looking at- Event TR8's. I'm thinking of dropping the $420 that it would take to get the TR8's, and depending on what I like, returning the other pair. Any advice on this?

Me and a friend are going to invest 10k to building a pro recording studio for recording bands for money. My question is, if you had 10k in your hand right now to do the same what would you buy. The 10k has to include everything except a computer, we already have a G5. Thanks

i am looking for a condenser mic and mixer/preamp that will generate pro quality for me on a $600 budget.

Please give me some suggestions, as i don't know too much about what i should grab!

I'll start by saying I have no prior recording experience of any instrument. I've read up on recording an acoustic guitar and have come across a variety of different views. I'm not fussy about sound quality (and I have no right to be with my budget :D); all I want is an end-product that the majority of people would have no problem listening to in terms of sound quality.
