First post here, and I need some super-noob advice.
I work at a television production house. My boss just asked me to set up a fully functional audio recording studio. We've got a soundproof vocal booth and an adjacent room to put the workstation in.
We do everthing TV, including voice-overs for international news stories and we want to expand into doing radio jingles as well. So I need a set up that will do that.
My big worry is that my boss wants a set up for US$10,000. I figure that's too little, but I will try and work within it to get something halfway decent.
Is there anyone that can help point me in the right direction? If there are ready-made bundles I can buy, or even just where to buy them?

Funny how this question has popped up before with a similar budget mentioned. But I also find it rather unusual to hear anybody talking about radio "jingles" since most major commercials these days seem to be using old rock-and-roll songs. I say Bravo to your boss!
It's actually quite conceivable to be able to build a quality recording system for $10,000. Being an old-timer, I still like recording with an analog workstyle. So I would recommend an Alesis HD24 hard disc 24 track recorder. A console such as any of the relatively inexpensive Mackie/Beringer/Soundcraft/Sonic/Allen & Heath for tracking and monitoring. And a reasonably quick PC/Mac for transferring the HD 24 tracks into the computer for mixing. That coupled with a bag of Shure SM57/58 microphones is all you need for quality jingle production. Don't forget the stands and cables and other assorted accoutrements, along with a pair of self powered monitors and you're in business.
Tell your boss that you got all of your ideas from a Crackerjacks box.
