How to correctly convert a 24bit master to 16bit?

Hi all,
I've been lurking around here a lot, but now have a question of my own. With a recent project, I decided to mixdown to 24bit/44khz, instead of 16bit/44Khz which is what I have done in the past. After mastering the audio, I was puzzled by this sharp harsh sounding noise i'd get when playing back the file and boosting around the 16khz area.

96 to 44.1 conversion work around?

I've been recording and mixing 32 track plus sessions at 44.1 24bit for a while now and am considering increasing my sample rate to 96khz. I mix in the box and like many others my final destionation is CD and I'm worried that a sample rate change of that size will actully sound worse than a session kept at 44.1 24bit.

Multitracker (24-Bit) Conversion & Drive Formatting?

People,

Looking at two 24-Bit Multitrackers (for expanding my studio operation to include location recording)...the Tascam 2488 & the Korg D1600.

Of these two units, does anyone know the mfg./model# of the onboard ADC ...or, more importantly...how the conversion/recording quality compares between the two?

Better to upgrade AD/DA conversion or pre's?

Hi guys, just thinking about sinking some $ into more pre's mics etc but I was wondering how much a difference real nice conversion would make. I'm running 16 channels of Delta 1010's right now. To me they sound fine BUT they are all I've ever used. Instead of getting that API 3124+ I've been jonesing for perhaps I should get 2 kick ass or 16 damn good channels of conversion.
