Seems CRane has some nice stuff at the plugin Land for PT TDM users.

Are they suitable for mastering or mostly for tracking?
Could we say that they are in the same boat of BF stuff or like L2 software/L2 hardware?

ok guys, I'm having problems here. I listened to the posted A/B clips using the CRane Song dither CD. Another acquaintance of mine from another forum bought a copy after seeing the flap generated over here.

Just received the CRane Song analog dither CD. Per their instructions, I mixed it into a tune I'm mastering (recorded/mixed on Pro Tools LE at 16/44.1 I think - took the CD-R & D/A'd it out of my Tascam CD-RW2000 (24 bit), ran it across my tube A/D at 24/88.2 & into the DAW - which was a huge improvement in itself).

I just found out about the CraneSong dithering CD and went & checked it out on their web site. I saw your CraneSong dithering endorsement so I thought I would ask for your opinion on it.

Decisions, Decisions. Which one to buy as an outboard AD converter for location recording on a 24 bit DAT recorder?

Transparent. 120dB Dynamic range. Has limiter. 1U rack mount.

Apogee Cons
Can't use both AD & DA connected on DA-45HR.

Does anyone here have any experience with CRane Song's equipment, particularly the Flamingo and HEDD 192? I can't find a soul in the great ::cough:: state of New Hampshire that has a unit to try out. Anyone know how they compare to GML, Avalon, etc.? Thanks!

I'd love to own a HEDD, a FATSO, the OXFORD EQ & COMP plugins etc. that everyone is saying are all essential for those of us working in the digital domain. Of course, all that presupposes the mucho bucks that exist only in my fantasies. BUT... I did notice a used original vintage HEDD on sale recently for less than half the price of a new one.
