Direct Monitoring and Cuemix
Ok, so I have a cuemix issue.
People say that cuemix should not be used if the application itself is capable of direct monitoring (which VST is,) but I do not see how you can take advantage of the input boosts available in cuemix if you route around it, or how you can use the direct monitoring available in cubase.

Recording a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier direct
I have a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Solo Head (three times fast). How should I set it up to record direct, without the speaker sound? I want to record late at night and reamp when I can make some noise. I know you shouldn't use it without a load on the speaker output (I almost blew it up while accidently trying it, but it's ok now).

Active FET preamp(acoustic guitar) direct.
...to the board, or analog audio microphone direct to the board? Pros and Cons? Suggestions?
I will be recording a blues medly with acoustic guitar and a single voice. By the nature of the song, the medley is better played and sung simultaneously than overdubbed, and I need not be concerned with the physical placement or presence of an additional mike.
Steve

I have a CRane Song Flamingo on order for evaluation. If I like it, I intend to keep it. But I have a question...
DSD - Direct Stream Digital
It appears that Sony and Phillips are at it again, with the new DSD format. Can anyone tell me what the implications are here? Are we all going to have to re-tool our studios to keep up with this technology? It seems to be rolling right over all the PCM technology advances that have been made.

Hi, I love this forum and have appreciated a lot of the advice presented here. I have a very elementary problem with getting quality sound when Micing my amplifier and am not sure the reason for it. I am recording to HD, my signal chain is (in reverse order) SB Live Platinum, Digitech
