Several years ago, I purchased an Aardvark Q10 for all my recording needs. I used this in conjunction with Cool Edit Pro / Adobe Audition until recently, and I have been very happy with the results. A few weeks ago, however, I bought a new computer, which came with Windows Vista, and my Aardvark will not function/install properly.

I'm currently doing some home recording with an older version of Adobe Audition pro. I'm very new to how digital recording works, and how to set it up, but I get the basics. I'm having issues with the metronome. Where am I supposed to plug my headphones into to hear the metronome and not have it incorporate itself into the recording?

I am trying to use the padKontrol with Pro Tools 7.3 LE. I cannot get Pro Tools to recognize anything because when I try to set the padKontrol, I get a device not connected message. I have been searching diligently for the past two days on some good reliable help...Korg has yet to send me an activation link to their forum so I found this one...Can someone help please. TRU!

Since the subject has come up, I would like to throw this out as a general discussion on the aspects of the digital world we are now firmly a part of in the recording business.

Does having digital sculpting, digital autotuning, digitally enhanced instruments, modeling, in short any of these 'modern' devices, help you do your business?

Does it bring in MORE business?

I'm really considering getting an SSL DUENDE, which connects via firewire. I currently use a DIGI001 for recording (PCI card connectivity) an external firewire hard drive for my audio files. I'm getting a new PC soon, probably an Intel Dual 2.1Ghz or so, and with this new system I'll be using the DIGI002R I just bought (also firewire).

I have a G5 running Digital Performer with a MOTU 896HD. All is good.

But on occasion, I want a ninth and tenth analog input. Can I just get the Onyx satellite, firewire it in to the chain, and not worry about word clock or other sync issues?

I have a questions concerning Sound Devices 722. Apologies if this reveals an appallingly low level of technical knowledge.

Sometimes I use the analog inputs on the 722 line level with an external pre suich as the DAV BG 1 (yes it is a terrific pre, no doubt about it).

To what extent will the external pre be "coloured" by the 722 when used line at level?
