Preamps for drums
I own an Allen & Heath Mixwizard (16 channel). I use this exclusively for drums. I would like to upgrade one of the preamps for the kick drum. I would first like to know what will an upgrade do for the sound? And how much do I need to spend for the upgrade to be worthwhile? Please give makes and models with prices. Thanks.

Proteus 2000 drums
Hi, I am trying to explore some of the different drums sounds in the 2K. There are a lot of great sounding drums. jazz trio and jazz quartet sound great except they have this odd volume swell going on. kit:accustic doesn't do that. Why would they create a preset with a volume swell...on drums no less. can it be flattened out?
Thanks
Sean

Need drums to go with my guitar tracks
Hi l'm a guitarist who is recording stuff on his computer through pro tools free and l need some drums to go with it.
l have some really cool drum loops which came with guitar tracks in a program called drag and drop drummer. These loops are quantitised and l simply loop them over and they are really good quality.

Thoughts on Micing drums?
I know this has probably been beaten to death before, but I'd like some comments on my version...

Live drums on a DAW - tips
Here's one I can share to start the ball rolling, it's how I get a separate 'normal drums' mix AND a 'compressed drum mix' - in Pro Tools, I imagine it would translate to any DAW software
Tip:
Use "duplicate track' on the drums and the aux bus they are routed too.

What do Australians know about drums?
G'day, y'all,
I've been becoming a bit of a fanatic about free-floating drums, (not like the inaccurately labeled Pearl ones) where the shell is in contact with nothing but the drum heads, no hardware touching the shell. This way the shell sings like a birdy, and the heads are not choked.

panning 3 mic drums
ok, i've started doing the fletcher-esque 3 mic drum kit thang, but i'm not entirely sure how to pan it.
specificaly, the snare always is [kinda obviously] louder in one channel.
as i'm also doing this with a Royer stereo ribbon, this is also an issue with this mic. where do you put a stereo mic over a kit? and how do you deal with lopsided volume [mainly snare]?

Recording drums with PA
I've read that tool among others record their drums splitting the signal from the snare, kick and toms and sending it through a PA.
Does one need exceptional well sounding speakers to get a good result or will most do? I really like that sound so it'd be fun to try it sometime. :)
what does PA stand for?
