Observation on Micing electric guitar cabinets.
A short time ago, I posted a question about the necessity of recording electric guitar at high SPL (something I had read many times). The responses were in agreement, and several reasons were given as to why a miced guitar amp records better at loud volumes, including the stress of maxed out speakers and tubes.
Electric guitar-Recording direct via preamp?
Hello, this is my first post here. I decided to join to learn more about recording. I am an enthusiastic beginner, but limited in resources and experience, so I hope others will tolerate my questions which are apt to be basic. I just read Mastering Audio by Katz, and am almost finished Behind the Glass. Both were good reads, and I think I learned something from the simpler parts.

Recording Electric Guitar Follow Up Question
Hello all!
Recording electric guitar issue
Hello all, and thank you for your time. I'm taking the responsibility of recording the demos for my band, and one song requires the rhythm guitar to have a thick distortion. Basically the guy who wrote it in our band likes more punk styled stuff like the offspring (not really my cup of tea), so I've run into some issues.

Secondary electric guitar mic options?
Hey all, I have (of course) an SM-57 and a 58, but have been curious about getting another mic to compliment the 57 since I use it primarily for electric guitar. I've considered the CAD Trion 7000 and the Sennheiser 421 so far with having heard good reports about both. A common description is that they fatten things up, and we all love fat, right?

mixing electric bass in stereo
Hey There,
I recently picked up a copy of the Bob Clearmountain Percussion and Bass sample library. In listening through the samples, I noticed that BC's electric bass is mixed stereo. It's a great sound - summing to mono significantly reduces the impact.

Best way to record electric guitar?
Hi All, I want to record my electric guitar onto computer and I was wondering what the best way to do it is. What are peoples thoughts on devices like the M Audio Black Box or Boss Micro BR? I would also like to add realistic drum tracks to my music, is the best way to do this via keyboard? I am told I can tap out the rhythms this way rather than do it mechanically using the mouse.
