Mixing help, Is this an eq tip i should make a habit of?

Hi I'm still newbie on mixing trying to learn best way to mix, and saw in a tutorial to do on eq steepest low cut of 125hz on all channels including fx in sends except kick and bass. Kinna makes sense to cut out all unnecessary bass and subbass frequencies to clean up mix which is what I'm after. Do u guys think this is good advice to do this on everything but kick and bass ?

Connecting an EQ to a microphone pre-amp.

I have an 8in/8out audio interface. I'm planning on buying a 2 channel microphone pre-amp to spice up 2 channels on the interface. I wanna hook up an equalizer to the pre-amp so it's not just a flat signal. I'd have to go OUT of pre-amp to audio interface IN to activate pre-amp. Do I connect the OUT of the EQ and connect it to the IN of the pre-amp on the back?

Setting speaker height and EQ for a venue

I would just like to get an opinion on how different sound engineers determine the correct height for the speakers when setting up in different venues?

When a system is EQ'd before an event and the levels are adjusted for each input, how do you compensate for changes in room dynamics further into the event i.e. more people filling the room and the temperature increasing?
