I currently have a (very humble) home studio with a few synths, and i was thinking the next addition i should make.. Monitors seem to be one of the top things i want.. I would prefer headphone monitors only because i would be able to do more production at times when people don't want to be disturbed. This isn't a huge preference though, only little (hehe)..

I have a Spirit 328 with an OZ audio HM-6 Q-mix.
The 328 have 4 aux's. I have a click, eight mics from the drums, 2 from guitar, 1 bass, 1 vocal.

Recently I've had a couple of projects come thru my place w/some SERIOUSLY loud drummers/guitar players. Marshall stax, 5150, etc. and I'm afraid my current cue mix setup was pretty much woefully inadequate.

I currently have a pair of the Sony MDR-7506. I like them fine, but I was looking for a headphone that offered more isolation, and it would be cool if they sounded even better than the 7506's too. I heard that Beyer was the way to go, but I didn't know which phones were better for what.

Anyone tried these out?
I have a pair of Sonys and they sound fine but am looking for a HP with more isolation since I often track and record in the same room.

I had some beyers DT 250 for musicians but they've been stolen. They were good, I like them a lot, but now I'm in a tight budget due to the robery (the beyers were not the only stuff they stole, ouch)... and now I've found a very good price for the Fostex T50RP, and just wanted someone's opinion, cause I've never tried fostex headphones.

i heard there is some way of cancelling out all spill from studio monitors when tracking if they are in the right position and some phase reversal trick thingy is used. can anybody elaborate for the sake of me not using headphones in the studio?

just wondering how people get about multitrack monitoring with their daw setups:

1. do you use the computer as a dumb tape deck, and send a separate signal to a mixing desk? or...

2. do you use the daw for doing the monitor mix, and don't worry about the latency? or...
