Hi all, first post and already starting with problems!

I recently moved from Canada to the Czech republic going from 120v/50hz to 230v/60hz (correct me if I'm wrong on the frequencies). Regardless, I brought over my pair of event 20/20bas monitors that I simply couldn't let go hoping to get to use them here. I bought the following step up/down transformer:

Output from W/O 1 & 2 (M-Audio 1010LT) produces hum on A

:( This is my first post and reading all the posts here suggest that there are may pros contributing their excellence.

I have just embarked on a digital recording project and obtained a M-Audio 1010LT PCI card. I will be using this (and Ableton Live) on an HP Win XP SP2 machine with plenty of memory and a large drive. I actually have 2 questions:

What makes mics hum-sensitive?

Forums

Hi all,
I was wondering what makes a mic hum when I approach the swtiches, and pick up low level background hum that no other mics do.

I've been able to rule out ground loops, and I am using very well shielded cable. The body is screwed together very tighly, so there's no problem there.

Oh yeah, the mic also needs to be grounded to stop the hum getting very bad.
