DAW Laptop, think I'm on to a winner, what do ya reckon?

Hey all, I'm going travelling and want to take my recording studio with me. I've spent all week researching laptops that can handle my audio gear, so much so, that my brain is starting to melt. I'm not that clued up on all the techy bits of a pc but read up a bit about processers and stuff and have gone a bit cross eyed. Anyway, for portability and performance etc.

Laptop batttery question?

Well I've finally joined the 21st century. I purchased my first laptop computer. This is really not a music computer but an all around everyday unit which will have speakers, my present internet computer does not, and while it will travel occasionally will primarily be plugged in and on most of the time in one location. My question has to do with battery longetivity.

1/8th Inch Laptop Mic Input, Also Stereo Line In?

When I bought my old laptop 7 years ago(Hp Pavilion ze5170), I was surprised to find out that the 1/8th inch Mic Input was stereo...When I would use a stereo source, like the headphone out from a multi effects unit like a Pod or Digitech Genesis 3, the laptop would record stereo on one track, just like a line in jack, very cool.

Problems recording on my laptop

I'm running Sonar 7 on my HP (w/ vista) and I often get audio dropouts b/c the meter labeled CPU exceeds the maximum. I tried running XP but my computer was running into too many problems so I switched back to vista. I also have 3GB of RAM, so I don't think that is the problem either. Is their anything I can do to make my laptop run without dropouts?

My New Laptop Won't Connect to My Firepod...So I'm...Help!

Basically I was using a SIIG 1394 Cardbus Adapter type deal to connect my old laptop to my Firepod as it had no firewire ports. I just got a new laptop (to make recording faster in part) and it also has no firewire ports, but it also has no Cardbus port. Instead it has an ExpressCard/54 Slot and of course 3 USB 2.0 ports.
