limiter settings
I've been in the past, on tracking of the kick, just been using some light 2.5-3/1 compression but someone on another post/forum said that they use a limiter on tracking and compress later. Now I want to try that but, what attack and release settings should I use? I have vari-mu and optical to choose from too.

Instead of a limiter, couldn't I just.
ok, I was always wondering.
instead of applying a limiter to the master bus to avoid too much peaking, could I not just turn down the master bus's volume?
I'd hate to lose quality by limiting.
if anyone could help me out here,
please & thnx

Whichsequence ? MicPre -> EQ -> Comp/Limiter -> AD-
Hello
For record a mic to harddisk I will use a Mic, a EQ, a micPre, a Comp/limiter, and the AD converter.
In what order should I connect them ?
1. MicPre
2. EQ ? or Comp/limiter ?
3. Comp/Limiter or EQ ?
4. AD converter
Anybody can explain me the way ?
Thanks very much.
amp/limiter before CD-recorder?
Hi,
Just wondering if I should be putting some sort of extra gain control device with limiter function between the send from my mixer and my CD-recorder? I had something like the Behringer mic100 in mind, except I'd need two - one for left & right, right?
Any comments would be appreciated.
Ian.

Tracking with limiters?
Hi all. This seems like a good place to ask about this. I record mostly acoustic music. Sometimes I record other performers (usually vocals, violin or piano), but more often I’m recording myself playing acoustic steel string guitar, acoustic baritone, classical guitar, various resonator slide guitars, snare drum and brushes, assorted hand percussion, etc.

I'm looking for half decent compressor but i'm on a bit of a budget, idealy I would like something that uses tubes to add some coloration but thats probably out of my range, anyways if anyone has any recommendations.

NTP 179-170 vs. . 179-120 mastering limiter
Anybody know what the sonic differences are (if any). I know the NTP 179-170 has some more features, but I was wondering since everybody seems to have the older 179-120.

1176 internal fuse rating
Just got an 1176 off ebay. The internal fuse was not in there nor the fuse holder. Managed to fit a newer internal fuse holder inside the casing but was wondering what fuse should I put in?
I fitted a 1 amp one and the unit works fine but is this the right rating to protect it?
Any comments much appreciated.
