Electro Harmonix NY-2 Limiter
I saw a lot about this when it was initially released, but now I can't find who's got one anywhere...
Any impressions of it?
Any Comparison to the LA-2A, especially on bass or vocal?

Recommendations for Outboard Mastering Compressor/Limiter
I recently added a SonicStudio HD system to our mastering room and I am seeking some suggestions for a brickwall limiter. I've currently got an API 2500 compressor which offers some nice old school character but I really need a decent sounding limiter. Unfortunately the local shops are no help since the salesmen typically don't use the gear they're selling.
DAW Project Studio Compressors/Limiters
Crowd,
Sorry if this post overlaps others which are similar (some even recently by me), but I need some feedback from the mastering brains on the purchase of a hardware limiter (or compressor/limiter) for my studio.
For me, it's now down to a choice between a plugin /dsp suite (probably UAD-1 Studio) or one of the following hardware pieces:

What does a compressor and limiter really do?
I thought I understood the concept of a compressor, but the more I think of it the less I understand.
A compressor looks at the music to see whether it passes a certain limit in amplitude ("volume"). The limit is called the threshold.
Limiter, Soft Clipper or Maximizer?
ok, first off, correct me if I'm worng, but any mastered track shouldn't go over 0db in the master bus, to prevent distortion at any volume right?. well anyway,
I want to be able do this without any "muffling" of frequencies,
or anything resulting in loss of quality.

Compressor or Limiter?
Hi,
I noticed (particularly) on drums I get digital overloads that sound horrible and I only like the sound of my mics on vocals with gain turned up (but this overloads the signal into the pc when I get slightly louder). So, I think I need a limiter or compressor so the loud parts don't overload the PC input.

Excellent Compressor/Limiter
OK, I already posted this in the sticky thread. BUT THIS IS SO BIG THE WHOLE WORLD HAS TO KNOW ABOUT IT!
And it's FREEWARE!
;)
I quote the developer for the instructions:
Left click in big box and drag left/right to set gain from 0db - 16db
Right click in big box and drag left/right to set freely -96db - 16db

Orange County Compressor/Limiter/EQ info?
Does anyone have any info the Orange County company? From what I gather, this was a company making high-endrecording gear in the 70's. I could only find two products that they made, a stereo compressor/EQ and a Vocal Stresser of some sort.

4band compressor/limiter/maximizer
A rather decent freeware multiband compressor, limiter and level maximizer is here:

(VST & Windows only)
I find it quite useful and there's some other nice stuff on the site too. Have fun!
