How do you transition from playing rhythm live (to backtrak) to lead guitar?

As a Garage guitarest I sometimes play to a crowd. I saw Queen's (tie your mother down) video Brian may starts out playing the rhythm then plays the lead But all the while the rhythm keeps playing in the back ground. There is only him and the Bass player. How does he do this?

Help! - Indexing tracks on a live recording

Hi

Need a little help. I have a semi-pro home studio and have recorded 2 commercial albums and countless demos, and have always been pleased with the results. I was recently asked to record a band live, so took a PreSonus Firepod and laptop and made the recording using Cubase 5. All mixed and mastered as a single 1hr track, and sounds great (sorry for the conceit!)

How to record live music for demos

I was told to buy a snowball usb mic. I also wanna find out how to properly edit the recordings ie what software to buy and look up tutorials on how to use it. can anyone help me out!

Best Improvement for Live Ensemble Recording

I've been doing recordings of High School and College level musical ensembles for family and friends (and sometimes myself relying on set-and-forget) for a couple years now using only a lone RODE M3 microphone hooked into Marantz PMD660. I've managed to get surprisingly good results from this setup, but I'd love to step it up a healthy notch - and get the most bang for my buck.

problem mixing/mastering live multitrack recording... help?

I'm recording a live venue every week using a Fostex LR16 and bring the multitrack files home to mix using Audacity. I know it's a free program, but I'm hesitant to spend money until I get past a certain learning curve. I can get a decent mix, but when I export the mix as an MP3, it sounds funny. Sounds like "waves"...

replacing drums in in mix, live recording

Is there a way i can replace a snare and kick drum with some type of trigger with out having to cut and paste the whole tracks? Some of our live recording sound bad because the snare and kick where miced badly.

I would like to replace the snare and kick with ones from my beta monkeys loops library
