[Monitor and Monitors]
I'm sure this might have been covered previously, but I wasn't sure how to look it up, as it involves both my monitor, and a pair of monitors.
We have a portable recording set-up, and it usually involves putting both the computer monitor and the audio monitors on the portable rack...side by side, with the comp monitor inbetween.

DI guitar bad for monitors / speakers?
when i was playing electric guitar as a teenager i remember often being told not to play the guitar through my home stereo because it was bad for the speakers.
in the age of DAW is this still the case?

New monitors
hey everyone.
I'm looking to replace my studio monitors in my home studio. i might still use them as an extra source of monitoring but as of late they're getting on my nerves.
right now i own passive 20/20's... i was thinking about putting them in my bedroom and getting a decent set of active monitor.

Newbie...Getting feedback out of monitors
Hello, just got my first recording setup. My equip is a RODE NT1A, M-Audio DMP3, a Roland VS-880, M-audio powered monitors. The whole set up is in one room. I get a lot of feedback on both vocals and mic'd acoustic guitar. I am barely able to turn the gain up past 9am on the DMP3 and the same goes for the input sensitivity to the VS-880 channel.

which monitors: look inside
hi
i want to buy new monitors ( my first pair of them) so any kind i buy will be better than what i have now ( my stereo). I don't trust myself with listening to determine which are better, because maybe what i like isn't right for monitors so...
with the budget i have, i'm in doubt between these:

Monitors: Necessary for mixing, or just mastering?
Hello,
Up until now I have only been mixing using headphones.
Are monitors necessary for mixing, or just mastering?
I'm going to be sending my tracks to be properly mastered.
If you do recommend monitors for mixing, which ones should I get? I don't want to spend a fortune on them, and the room I'll be mixing in won't be acoustically treated.
Monitors Underneath the Stage
Our church has a small stage - so small that floor wedges are impossible in practical terms. We don't have the budget for IEM's, and I don't like the sight of "hot spot" monitors mounted on mic stands. What I've been thinking about is placing the monitors underneath the stage. Would that be a possibility I should even think about, or do I need to just throw the idea away?
