Hello, I'm new on the board. I would appreciate if someone could give me some helpful advice on a descision I'm trying to make. I'd like to hear some opinons from owners of both the imac G5 (or any G4 or G5 owner) and PC's. What would better suit the following purposes: film scoring, Reason 2.5, recording/sequencing (cubase/protools). Thank you.

I'm about to buy a new DAW to replace my PC.

My shopping list is:

1 Dual Processor Mac (g4 or g5)
1 PreSonus FirePod ($600)
2 Mackie HR624 Monitors ($900)

I have lots of questions. All help and suggestions will be gratefully received.

Okay. Now I know a lot of you will point a finger and say, "Hasn't this topic been covered ad nauseam?" Well, yes...and no.

There are specific questions that have yet to be answered. Most of the responses, thus far, have been more opinion as to "preference", not whether or not one Mac could perform the needed operations without a hitch.

As my nominal financial windfall (LOL) approaches I still consider my options. You guys have done a wonderful job talking me out of a Roland 24 track digital all-in-one. Unfortunately, still undecided in my PC vs Mac saga.

Has anyone hacked a version of Ultramix software for Mac OSX?
I know Mackie had posted the code for rewriting. Thanks.

So I have an 800 mhz G4 Mac where I used to have my Pro Tools digi002 and also Logic Platinum 6, haven't upgraded, yet.

I just bought a PC 3 ghz pentium 4 which is now the new home for my Pro Tools which of course was a lot more cheaper than upgrading to a mac G5 and i can mix very well on it.

I am working in a new studio and I am still getting familiar with all the surroundings. I have not recorded a project yet but my first project will be in November. I only track at the studio. I do mixing at home and I send stuff to be mastered elsewhere. Here is a problem I want to figure out before I get the artist in the door and I find myself scratching my head.

I am a newbie, thinking about buying a new iMac G5, for my DAW...but I am unsure about whether or not it will be powerful enough to do everything I want it to. The iMac G5 is only a single processor (as opposed to the Power Mac, which is dual). It also has a slower bus speed (600mhz vs 900).
