I've just come into some money to upgrade my little home setup and I'm stuck as far as what to upgrade in order to achieve the best bang for the buck. Currently, I have:

PC (2.6Ghz P4, 2Gig memory, XP, 2 120 gig hard drives)
BLUE Baby Bottle Mic
Aardvark Q10
Cubase SX3
Sucky monitors (home theater stuff-Yamaha)

I would be interested to hear from any/all on best choices for mic preamp for ribbon mics. I am particulary interested in recording acoustic stringed instruments, especially guitar, dobro and Weissenborn guitar.
Here is my current set-up:

AEA R84
Fireface 800
Cubase SX3
Record on Dell p.c.

Which of these mic preamps should I get? I record mostly female vocals for R&B,Pop vocals. I have a Blue Kiwi and a 1176LN.Neve 1073 by Wunder Audio, Summit TPA-200B, or a Avalon 737sp?

Alrite so now i got a bit of money to spend i wanna buy the best vocal microphone i can afford and a good preamp these are ones i am thinking of:

OK I need some help.

The challenge I'm having here is finding a great sounding, versatile mic preamp for under $1k. I'd prefer a channel strip - but to find one of high quality under $1k may be difficult. Also, I'm fine with a single channel - but if there's a great item with 2 or more - that would great too. Anyone have any suggestions? Here are a few auctions that ended on eBay recently.
