How to Prep a Musician?

I work with a lot of Musicians that have never recorded before. Some of them get to the studio and look at us like a dear in the headlights. Usually I try to give them a few things they should do before the session to be prepared. I was wondering what other people who record first timers do to prep the musician. Do you sent them an email with tips? If so, what are those tips?

A documentary on local musicians project - need audio advice

Greetings.

I'm preparing for a long project, archiving some local bands from many genres.

And I need advice on how to recording audio for this project...
So far I've had advice to buy either AKG 414 or Sennheiser 416...
The budget has around 2000$ for audio hardware, so let me know what you think the setup should be.

Los Angeles Recording School vs. SAE vs. Musician's Institute?

I'm moving to LA this summer and considering doing a music production/engineering course when I'm there - either Los Angeles Record School, SAE or Musician's Institute.

I searched this forum and found some similar topics from a few years ago but wanted some recent opinions from people who've done these courses.

studio musicians?

What kind of trends are you guys seeing lately with studio session guys?

Anything worth noting that is different from the norm or old times?

How big of an effect does the DIY recording have on people that have been making their careers doing session work? Good or Bad?

Still looking for musician-friendly recording software

So I'm still looking for musician-friendly recording software.

I had started out with Audacity, and it works like a dream but it can only output 2-channel stereo and it crashes a lot. And it has a long list of rotten effects that I don't know how to delete.

I had looked at n-track but that's looking pretty dead nowadays.
