Description
The Neumann TLM 103 has quickly become one of the biggest successes in Neumann’s history. Its pristine, clear sound is a modern update on the classic U87. The TLM 103 is a transformerless cardioid condenser microphone with a gentle presence boost for a stunningly direct sound with breathtaking definition and ultra low noise.

TLM 103's overload capability

I have experienced overload on my TLM 103 while recording vocals. I'm going to an Apogee Mini-Me with a soft limit curve on. However it seems the only solution is having the singer move a few steps back. I believe this is due to capsule overload, even though its overload capability is somewhere near 138 dB SPL. What should I do to prevent this? I know this model has no pad switch.

Neumann TLM 103 vs. . RODE NTK - Your Opinions Please

Hi Everyone,
I recently bought Neumann TLM-103 mic but I am wondering what is your opinion of it and more importantly how it compares to RODE NTK mike. I initially wanted to buy NTK but they didn't have one in stock so I got the Neumann. Should I return it and get NTK (they still don't have it in stock yet!)

Any help will be highly appreciated.

tnx,

chris

U87 or TLM 103, AT4033 (+change)...

Would it be wise to purchase a U87 as the main LD condenser 'workhorse'... or have the flexibility of utilizing the TLM 103 AND the AT4033? (I know I could get 2 of each for the price of the U87!)This is an important decision for me; my business partner and I will be opening up our 24 track digital studio (Mackie D8B/HDR) by the end of September, and this is the only gray area...

Neumann TLM 103

Hi.
I am thinking of buying a Neumann TLM 103 condenser,I am very happy with my RøDE NT 1 for vocals but I need something better to get my nylon acoustic guitar (solos, classical stuff, brazillian music etc...) .
I have a cheapo mic preamp(Behringer Ultragainer) but it works fine for my bedroom studio:
