Passive
An electronic device that does not use any amplification circuits. Applied mostly to filters, it describes a cut-only design, and because of this, passive circuits are less prone to distortion. In practice, even though a filter is described as passive, it may none the less have make-up gain circuitry at its output to compensate for the loss in power that cutting can cause.

Passive Radiator
An element in speaker design that is used to improve the bass response of smaller cabinets. Consisting of a diaphragm that resembles a woofer, but without the voice coil, it is meant to move sympathetically with the energy delivered by the active woofer. While providing a greater bass response, the diaphragm is hard to control and can lead to overtly boomy bass response.

Summit EQP200B vs. . Massive Passive
hi all, I'm thinking of buying a Massive Passive, having had my heart set on one for years, but I'm hearing great things about the Summit EQP200B, which 2nd hand would be about half the price. Anyone ever compared them? Does the summit really stand up to the MP?

Subs that power passive speakers?
Are there any Subs out there that will power my passive NS10s? Any recommendations? Or am I better off going for a passive Sub and amp?

a low budget alternative to Massive Passive EQ
Hello. I have a small project studio and usually i don't have any mastering on my projects mix - i know very pro gear are needed for that. The only operation i like doing is to insert a SPL Vitalizer in the main out channel of my Mackie 32-8 mixer, so that the mix sound is like... sweatened and rounded.
Passive speakers thru snake?
i'm new to this and need help. is it possible to connect ur mixer to the speakers using a snake cable? and do u require DI's ?
