Drum mics/Phase
So, couple of simple questions. What are the phase problems that people constantly talk about avoiding/fixing? Will I be affected by that with 2 overheads, a snare mic and a kick mic? I'll be reamping the snare after if I can. The sound that I'm trying to get is like that off of Everything Goes Numb by Streetlight Manifesto, or Keasby Nights by Catch 22.

DAW (VST or AU) Phase Scope
Do you guys know of any good VST or AU based phase scopes that are either free or under 100 bucks? My Metric Halo supports Spectrafoo, but it's too pricey and I can't afford to switch to RME, which has nice free scopes.
thanks!

no phase reverse switch on my mixer sugestions plz
hi,
this is a follow on the mid side recording question. I have no mid side button on my Behringer mixer are there any alternatives ? I have a splitter in my patchbayrack and so it's just the reverse phase to deal ... would it work if I rewire a cable wrong for 1 side of the stereo image ?
merry xmas and thanks for your time again
Remove clipping distortion through phase cancelling?
I just tried this crazy experiment, and I need help understanding the results.
Here's what I did:
1. I turned up the final output volume in my mastering chain so loud that it created very noticable digital clipping in the loud sections of the song. I exported this song.
2. I then exported a quieter version with no digital clipping.
Phase shift = delay ! (?)
My understanding is that a phase shift is really a shift in time. If we have two sine waves, one beginning half a cycle after the other (180 degree phase shift), this would cause them to cancel each other. So all we need to do is move one of these signals in time to avoid this from happening.
Does this make sense ?

filters and phase shift
I just mastered a 5.1 live concert for DVD-V. In the mains I filtered out some low rumble but left the LFE alone as there was content in there that needed to be, using analog outboard gear. When I applied the filters to the mains, I noticed that the sub sounded disconnected from the mains. I kicked in bass management and the low end goes bye bye. Ahh, the filters phase shifted the program.

Phase reverse box that's cheap but decent needed for.
The Firepod doesn't have phase reverse, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a small phase reverse box that will fit into the chain between the mics and the Pod. At the moment I'm using phase reverse 'after' recording, but for headphone mixes and convenience, I really want to get it reversed before it gets recorded.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
MAudio Delta 1010 or Terratec Phase 88.Ill trie here instead
The search-thingie seems to be out of order so i hope I'm not repeating anything. Anyways.
I trie to deside what A/D D/A converter to buy.
The Terratec Phase 88 seems more atractive than the M-audio converter, and it has two mic preamp-amps in it to. But the M-Audio converter is Pro Tools compatible!

Sennheiser 416 shockmount and phase issues
The Sennheiser 416p (supercardioid shotgun mic) has a shockmount (the rycote one, used for booming) that, however you place the mic, covers a bit of the 'ribbed part' (the part with small openings)..
this must in a way compromise the directivity of the mic right?
It's a industry standard shockmount though..
