Portable recording device with playback while recording new track (w/without overdub)

Hi everyone, I am new here. I am looking for something like the Zoom H4n / H2 that I can use as a portable recorder, but also plug into a PC and use as a USB mic. I would also like to be able to play back a track on the device and record a new track without overdubbing.

24bit/192khz Line-in Recording: Portable Recorder or Laptop + Creative Sound Blaster

Hi! I am interested in doing line-in recordings and I need something portable. After realising that my laptop (using Realtek ALC892) could do only 16bit/192khz recordings, I decided to research more and had the following options.

2-track (Zoom H1) portable recorder for interviews

I have a Zoom H1 and want to conduct oral history interviews by setting up two external mics. . (I'm brand new at all of this)

1. Can I do this? I assume two tracks means the X and Y onboard mics are both recording, how do I hook up two external mics? Am I right that each mic would then record in mono?

Cheap, portable outdoor sound booth?

I'm looking to construct a transparent sound booth to conduct seated audio recorded interviews in public. It doesn't need to be completely soundproof, but it needs to significantly buffer sound from the street (it might not need a top) and it must be see-though so that pedestrians can watch interviews.

Portable interface advice. Usb vs Firewire reliability, repair-ability

Portable interface advice.

Hello,

I have a studio rig I'm fairly happy with, but I want to be able to record me and my guitar while I'm away from home, on my XP based laptop.

Question one:

Any recommendations based on the following criteria?
