Best Portable Mono Mic for Vocals?

Forums

Hello guys and girls.
This year I am travelling around and I want to record vocals from time to time. Thats why I need a portable handy microphone that I can carry around and of course is able to record Mono (I have a RODE at home but its too much luggage, as I would need a Recording device too).
It does not have to be an ultra professional Mic, but good quality and Handy.

Should I go portable?

I've already bought a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 (4 preamps and USB) for £250 off amazon. I am still within my return window. Should I instead return that and get a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, second hand, off eBay for around £200, although it works out at around the same price due to the cost of a FireWire cable and the £25 FireWire to Thunderbolt adapter?

Portable recorder for recording ambience/effects/wind noise? Some foley advice?

I need a portable recording device for some light foley work where I would need to be outdoors or mobile. Sounds include banging and slamming sounds that would be dangerous to record indoors, ambient sounds like nature, rain, or speech in a social setting, and the sound of wind rushing.
