Need some input - setting up first portable digital rig
Hello out there!
I'm putting together my first portable digital system, and hope I'm in the right forum!
I'm looking for components that are compatible with my ibook g4. My ultimate goal is to take the recordings of samples, transfer to my ibook, and mainpulate the samples.
Here's what I've come up with so far (budget is about a grand):
Portable Pre
Hello to all!. I'm new in this Forum, this is my first post.
I do recordings of classical music and ethnic music. This ethnic's
recordings sometimes are field recordings, without AC power.
I'm in the task of upgrading my gear. I've recently purchased a matched pair of microphones: Schoeps CMC6-xt, cardioids. I think it is a good start.

Portable Recording Solution
I'm finally looking to upgrade to a Pro Tools system, but am somewhat wary of building my own computer. I've decided to go the laptop route for interaction with a digi 002, but I've had bad experiences with systems from companies recommended on digi's site, such as dell, hp and compaq.

Looking for a portable pre-amp and a reference headphone AMP
I plan on purchasing a marantz PMD670 or a Fostex FR-2 and I'll Be needing a dual channel or 2 single channel battery powered preamps.
Also I'd like to get a CLEAN uncolored headphone amp... My budget would be pretty tight so spending 1300$ on a reference headphone amp is sorta out of the question.
portable recording devices/recording on the go
I wish I had something like a Tascam2424 except smaller, like only 4 tracks, but with pres on them, and phantom power. Am I asking reality for to much for such a product to exist within a reasonable price range?

please advise. portable hard disc.
So I am borrowing an Archos Jukebox Recorder 20 from a buddy. He just uses it for mp3's and some file storage but I want more! it has recording capabilities, but when recording the audio is nasty (self noise from the unit) and it only has a line in... Any suggestions on a portable hard disk recording unit that has decent audio inputs.

portable recording gear advice?
In Fall of 2003, I will be studying theory and composition at a fairly large university. This school's performance majors are required to submit a recorded recital at the end of each semester; naturally, many recordists are needed. I have been producing local amateur singers and rappers for about a year on my DAW but have little experience with location recording.
